Je m’intéresse aux réponses développementales et adaptatives des plantes horticoles (d’ornement et maraichères) à leur environnement abiotique. J’étudie en particulier les réponses à la lumière, à la restriction hydrique et à la stimulation mécanique par des analyses phénotypiques, physiologiques, moléculaires et épigénétiques. L’étude de la mémoire, du priming et de la désensibilisation des plantes à ces facteurs est centrale dans mon questionnement scientifique. Au-delà de l’analyse des mécanismes mis en œuvre, l’objectif finalisé de mes travaux porte sur l’exploitation des réponses de ces plantes pour accroître leur qualité en terme de forme (ramification, compacité) et d’adaptation à des environnements contraignants (milieu urbain, restriction des ressources en eau). Mes travaux contribuent aussi à l’élaboration d’itinéraires techniques de production plus durables et alternatifs aux traitements chimiques (nanifiants, pesticides), par l’exploitation des réponses aux facteurs abiotiques.
